BEHIND THE BULLSEYE: Sponsored by Nobody deconstructs many aspects of the experience of shopping at a Target store in Brooklyn, with devastating (and hilarious, and thought-provoking) results. This show is part of the Ontological Theatre's Summer Series. PICK OF THE WEEK!
ADVENTURE QUEST: A new play by Richard Lovejoy about a typical '80s style computer adventure game hero.
BRIEF SHORTS: An eclectic hour of culture, color, and fun: this is a program of short dance theatre pieces interspersed with poetry, presented by Xoregos Performing Company at various locations around NYC. Performances are free!
DAYDREAM: A short adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream crafted for young children and their families, and performed (for free!) in Prospect Park. Delightful.
HOSPITAL 2009: Axis Company presents their annual four-part serial, which explores the inner life of a comatose man. The "Traveller" this year is an astronaut trapped on a ship lost in space.
OUR TOWN: A revival of Thornton Wilder's classic play that reveals all of its wisdom and potency. Directed by David Cromer, who also plays the Stage Manager.
SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE: RX: A whole new kind of interactive theatre: the audience portrays the characters in this Twilight Zone-y suspense play, following instructions provided to them on an iPod as they move around locations near the Brick Theater in Williamsburg.
THE AMISH PROJECT: Jessica Dickey gives a tour de force performance as seven different characters in this solo show of her own devising, which is inspired by the 2006 shooting of ten Amish children.
THE FULL MONTY: Elaine Stritch and a host of other great performers make this revival of the musical about six unemployed guys who become strippers a very entertaining evening of theatre.
THE TEMPERAMENTALS: A smart and entertaining play about Harry Hay and his circle, the men who founded the Mattachine Society in the early 1950s, which was the first gay rights organization in America.
