nytheatre voices Interviews

nytheatre voices is the section of our website where theatre artists speak directly to our readers. Voices articles are cyberinterviews, in which actors, directors, producers, designers, writers, composers, and other creative individuals talk about their work in their own words. Every month, we invite a variety of artists involved in upcoming productions to answer a few questions regarding their shows. Their responses are published in nytheatre voices. This is one of nytheatre.com's most popular and talked-about features.

nytheatre voices interviews are all conducted in cyberspace. One of our staff members emails questions to the participant(s). Responses are then emailed back. We review the responses and edit them for clarity and formating only. We never change anything without participants' permission. We believe strongly that the voices articles are where artists talk to readers, without nytheatre.com staff getting in the way.

We welcome suggestions for nytheatre voices articles. If you would like to pitch an idea for a voices piece, send an email to info@nytheatre.com. When you're contemplating a voices article related to a particular show, please contact us well in advance of your show's first performance, so that we (nytheatre.com and the artists being interviewed) have enough time to create an interesting and worthwhile piece that will also be a valuable promotional tool for your production.

nytheatrecast Podcasts

nytheatrecast is New York's first original weekly theatre podcast, and the only one dedicated to the indie theatre scene. We produce two new episodes of nytheatrecast each week. They feature interviews, roundtable discussions, and performance excerpts with/by indie theater artists.

nytheatrecast episodes are produced by Martin Denton. We record them in our offices in Manhattan; it generally takes about one hour to record an episode, which usually runs about 20 minutes.

nytheatrecast includes the monthly series Indie Theater Now, a variety show in which we feature guests from six different shows opening in the upcoming month. Each guest has a five-minute slot to discuss or perform from his/her show. The host for Indie Theater Now is Trav S.D., who is also nytheatrecast's announcer.

We welcome suggestions for nytheatrecast episodes. If you would like to pitch an idea for an nytheatrecast show, or would like to be considered for an Indie Theater Now program, contact Martin Denton.
