FACE (Every Good Boy Does Fine)
Produced by FACE
Author: FACE
Performing with FACE every night scares the hell out of me. We perform without a net — it's unscripted — so all we have to rely on is each other. Every Good Boy Does Fine captures the urgency and intensity of creating a new show. Our audiences see this show being written, composed, choreographed, and performed on-the-spot. Four musicians and five actors step onto that stage with just our wits and an upright bass, a keyboard, drums and a saxophone. FACE began as a weekly jam session in an overheated Washington Heights apartment. Every Sunday night for months, actors and musicians spent hours finding new ways to work together. Letting the music drive the onstage narrative. Making choices that changed the musical score midstream.
The audience gets invested in our show from the start. The cast and musicians of FACE take the urgency of live theatre — and ratchet it to new heights. With every moment unscripted — no one on or offstage has any idea what direction the show will turn next.
It's exciting to be a part of such an innovative new form of theatre. It's so rare that you get to collaborate with so many other artists. The cast of FACE includes composers, playwrights, musicians, singers, actors, dancers, choreographers, and comics. Every performance, we are fusing these forms in new ways and creating a fresh, urgent, new approach to theatre.
