Eagle Squadron GO!
Produced by Tight Ship
Author: Garet Scott, music by John Bauers
Eagle Squadron GO! captures the danger and romance of WWII London during the Blitz, and behind enemy lines in Occupied France. The play was inspired by the small group of American pilots who defied the US government to join the Battle of Britain, England's desperate effort to defend herself against the German airborne assault meant as a prelude to Hitler's invasion of England. Americans may have joined because they wanted to fly Spitfires, but they stayed to fight for freedom, alongside pilots from all over the world. Winston Churchill said of them, "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few."
Our version of the Eagle Squadron is more hysterical than historical. Nine actors play sixty-five characters, as they fight, love, sing, die, and win WWII all over again. Audiences should expect a smart and fast-paced comedy. No "message," just entertainment. Our company chose this play because we thought it would be fun to do. And if we're having fun, our audiences will too.
