Bound in a Nutshell

Produced by Moonwork Inc.

Author: Gregory Wolfe & Gregory Sherman

Bound in a Nutshell is a one-act retelling of Shakespeare's Hamlet set in a modern day prison, complete with security cameras, prison guards and torture chambers.

The specter of a jailed innocent, pleading his case to stoned faced captors could not be more relevant to what we read in the newspapers everyday.

Shakespeare's 400-year-old poetry spoke to his Elizabethan audience about Hamlet's personal struggle with indecision.  Moonwork's production harnesses that poetry for a modern, American audience, and literalizes Hamlet's self-imposed bonds into handcuffs and a jail cell.
