boxplay q&a preview by Steven Ackley
July 25, 2012

What is your job on this show?
Writer and Director.

What type of theater do you like most to work on?
Performance, theater, and art that makes me question what art, theater, and performance could possibly be. I like to change things with my work.

Why did you want to be part of FringeNYC?
I wanted to be part of FringeNYC to meet new artists, see new work, and have the chance to show what myself and my company, boom! theater company, are doing in Seattle.

In your own words, what do you think this show is about? What will audiences take away with them after seeing it?
boxplay is about A Choice. I think audiences will leave with many things but concerning the previous sentence I hope audience members think about choices and decisions in their own lives as well as their roles as audience members when coming to see any type of performance.

Which “S” word best describes your show: SMOOTH, SEXY, SMART, SURPRISING?

Why should people come to FringeNYC this summer, rather than the beach, mountains, or the latest movie blockbuster?
To see something you have never seen before. Ever.
