5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche

nytheatre.com q&a preview by Sarah Gitenstein
July 25, 2012

What is your job on this show?
Director.

Where were you born? Where were you raised? Where did you go to school?
I was born and raised in Washington, DC. I earned my BA in Theater from Kenyon College.

Why did you want to be part of FringeNYC?
"5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche" had an extremely successful run in Chicago in the summer of 2011. I have never worked on a show that drew such a diverse and enthusiastic audience. I wanted to provide the same opportunity for New Yorkers.

Why did you want to write/direct/produce/act in/work on this show?
"5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche" is like no other show I have ever worked on or seen. It is simultaneously fun, ridiculous, beautiful and touching. I wanted the opportunity to bring my own directorial style and taste to help exemplify the unique tone and story. I also wanted to take advantage of developing a show with 5 strong, hilarious and brilliant women.

Which “S” word best describes your show: SMOOTH, SEXY, SMART, SURPRISING?
Surprising! While the show is literally about "5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche" you will never be able to guess what happens next. It is filled with plot twists and turns that keep the audience hooked.

Why should people come to FringeNYC this summer, rather than the beach, mountains, or the latest movie blockbuster?
There is such a communal feeling to seeing a show at FringeNYC. When seeing live theater you go through the experience together. "5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche" takes you on a roller coaster over the course of 60 minutes. You will leave the theater feeling closer to your fellow audience members. You just can't get that from a blockbuster.
