Sophia q&a preview by Mary Lauren
June 24, 2013

What is your job on this show?
Actress playing Sophia.

What is your show about?
A cross between romantic comedy and Laugh-In, SOPHIA tells the story of a beautiful, intelligent, but romantically clueless young woman who continually falls into relationships, confusing lust with love. With the help of a relationship therapist, she weeds out the “wrong” men in her life and finds true love.

Where were you born? Where were you raised? Where did you go to school?
I started performing before I was born in my Mom's stomach as she danced in parades at Disneyland. I was born in Orange, California. I was raised there at The Music Room school of performing arts, FUMCO and Disneyland. I went to college at The College of Santa Fe in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I received a BFA in theatre with a concentration in musical theatre.

What are some of your previous theater credits? (Be specific! Name shows, etc.)
I am currently in three shows. Along with playing the lovely Sophia, I am in Princess Particular at the Secret Theatre and Honestly Abe at the Actors Temple Theatre. My three most rewarding theatre experiences have been playing Sarah in Sarah Was Mine at a few theatres, including the Cherry Lane Theatre, playing Mary in My Shadow and Me at Cape May Stages and choreographing Fabulous! the musical for FABCO productions.

How did you meet your fellow artists/collaborators on this show?
I am very excited to be working with Write Act Rep once again. This is my sixth production with the company. Last year I met Michael Antin and Evan Edwards when we worked on a different production of Sophia, which I choreographed. I am thrilled to be on the other side of the foot lights this time. I also choreograped and/or performed in Have You Tried Sex, Renewal, Geeks, and Fabulous! for Write Act Rep.

Which “S” word best describes your show: SMOOTH, SEXY, SMART, SURPRISING?
I think that the show embodies two of these words. It is SEXY SMOOTH. Crystal's choreography has a lot of Fosse moves that, if we do them right, will add a lot of sexy smooth. =)

Who are your heroes?
There are so many wonderful humans in this world that are heroes. My two personal heroes are my parents. They embody love and compassion. They have supported me through this crazy world of theatre and I feel blessed every day to have them as parents.
