What is your job on this show?
Writer, Actor, Singer, Director.
When did you know you wanted to work in the theater, and why?
I grew up on a ranch in the boonies of central California. It was a 30 minute drive to town each way so my mom and I passed the time listening to the "Greatest Hits of Andrew Lloyd Webber" and every Garth Brooks cassette tape available. There was nothing I loved more than singing the sweeping, dramatic ballads from Cats and Jesus Christ Superstar. I informed my parents, at the age of four, that I would be on broadway someday.
Complete this sentence: My show is the only one in United Solo that...?
has a 6-foot-tall naked picture on stage.
What was the most memorable/funny/unusual thing that has happened during the development and rehearsal process for this show?
I started writing this show when my dating experiences got too bizarre to keep to myself. As I was rehearsing the show I actually met an amazing man and fell in love. The first presentation of the show had a hopeful, but somewhat sad, ending and now I have a happy ending to share with the audience.
Which “S” word best describes your show: SMOOTH, SEXY, SMART, SURPRISING?
Equal parts SEXY and SURPRISING.
Who are your heroes?
Christine Gallagher (in the show), my best friend, who helps me to always be me.
My mom, because she was, and is, so much more than her generation allowed her to be.
Idina Menzel, whose voice gives me chills and who is so fully self-expressed on stage. No fear.
