What is your job on this show?
co-writer, composer, musical director.
When did you know you wanted to work in the theater, and why?
I wrote and produced my first plays almost thirty-five years ago and I have never stopped. I've done shows all over the world. I wrote and produced a series of three operas in the Aughties as well as a series of musicals. I am interested in theater as a medium for the gesamtkunstverk, the total work of art.
Have you been part of FringeNYC in the past? If so, how did you particpate? (Be specific! Name shows, etc.)
I used to administrate the Theater for the New City, and we hosted Fringe shows there. It's become an essential part of the life of theater in New York.
In your own words, what do you think this show is about? What will audiences take away with them after seeing it?
This show is about how experience can rob you blind while it's bringing you wisdom. Self-knowledge is essential to living correctly but is also very painfully acquired.
Which famous New Jerseyite would like your show the best: Snooki, Bruce Springsteen, Thomas Edison?
We're a New Jersey company, and I like to think that the Boss would love this show. Thomas Edison might also appreciate our meditations on how his invention have affected the lives of moths.
Why should people come to FringeNYC this summer, rather than the beach, mountains, or the latest movie blockbuster?
Our style of theater emphasizes the connection between the living beings in the audience and the living beings on stage. We're all sharing a dream.
