What is your job on this show?
Director/Artistic Director Monsterpiece Theater Collective.

What type of theater do you like most to work on?
As Artistic Director of Monsterpiece Theater Collective we consistently choose work rooted in the classical. Classical art forms are an inspiration for all of the artists that work with us but only as a jumping off point to create something new. While using parts of an older “whole” we strive to create something new. As a director I am drawn to a good story. One that can be told collaboratively using everything at my disposal, nothing is off limits or out of bounds.

Is using an all-female cast with overtones of high school social structure and Kabuki Theater to tell a story so well known as Julius Caesar.

Why did you want to write/direct/produce/act in/work on this show?
After auditioning Much Ado About Nothing in 2011, I saw so many wonderful actresses frustrated by the limit of Shakespearean roles available to them. I began to search for one of his plays that spoke to me universally without needing to tell a story about gender roles. With Julius Caesar, I was struck by the fierce loyalty of the main characters to each other, to being honorable, and to their society. I felt telling this story through the eyes and hearts of a group of fiercely dedicated actresses playing these extraordinary roles as women would give new breath to a script that so many look at as just a political thriller. Our story is about friendship, honor, and sacrifice. I don’t think it gets more universal than that.

Which “S” word best describes your show: SMOOTH, SEXY, SMART, SURPRISING?
All of them except for Smooth. With a name like Monstepiece, Smooth is not in our vocabulary.

If you had ten million dollars that you had to spend on theatrical endeavors, how would you use the money?
Spread it around the entire country to fund the crazy ideas. To let artists follow their hunches wherever they are and not worry about if it is going to “work” or if the market is right for it.
