LOLPERA q&a preview by Angela Lopez
July 25, 2012

What is your job on this show?

When did you know you wanted to work in the theater, and why?
Like most passions, I discovered my love for physical theater so young that one might consider the memories and circumstances too distant to recall. However, I remember the very moments I was consumed and inspired by the work of Julie Taymor and the magic Pilobolus, DV8 and Push. I could not imagine devoting my life to anything other than these disciplines so I forged a fast and firm contract with myself to zealously pursue a life in theater. Being artists themselves, my parents encouraged me to express myself artistically and ingest a myriad of diverse artistic disciplines. I spent countless hours wearing-down a raised concrete slab in my back yard, which served as my stage, mimicking my favorite artists and emulating every nuanced movement until I could no longer get it wrong. Now I get the joy of doing what I love.

was formed by user generated content from people around the world.

Why did you want to write/direct/produce/act in/work on this show?
I loved the idea and challenge of taking nonsensical memes and not only use them to tell a story but communicating ideas that speak to our generation. I was so amazed by Ellen and Andrew's ability to tell a beautiful story with fantastic music that I had to be part of it.

Which “S” word best describes your show: SMOOTH, SEXY, SMART, SURPRISING? smart.
