LOLPERA q&a preview by Andrew Pedroza
July 25, 2012

What is your job on this show?

Who are your heroes?
My heroes are David Lynch, David Bowie, Bjork, Kermit, and Mike Patton. Without their guidance I would be a Dodo.

Complete this sentence: My show is the only one in FringeNYC that...?
...will make you simultaneously want cheezburgers and hugs tiem now plz.

In your own words, what do you think this show is about? What will audiences take away with them after seeing it?
LOLpera is about the relentless search for the meaning of life in the digital age. It speaks of this generations attachment to todays distractions, diverting us from obtaining our own cheezburgers. Audiences that see LOLpera will not only LOL at stupid cat pictures, but will find hope in the hopeless and meaning in the meaningless.

People who like which of the following recent Broadway shows would also probably like your show: THE BOOK OF MORMON, ONCE, DEATH OF A SALESMAN, CLYBOURNE PARK?
All of them. We've got a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. Willy Loman would especially love LOLpera. Trust me.

How important is diversity to you in the theater you see/make?
Molto importante! We are all vastly different creatures in many respects: class, race, sex, gender, weight. With such a diverse palette of colors accessible to us, it would be a crime not to utilize the different types of beings in humanity. I'm proud to say that every character in LOLpera can be played by either sex.
