Sheherizade q&a preview by Alex Spieth
July 25, 2012

What is your job on this show?

Who are your heroes?
Meryl Streep is not my hero because I don't think that the person I center my religion around is just a hero. My heros include Dustin "Justice" Hoffman, Kathy Griffen, AMY POEHLER, Don Draper (the Man the Legand), Madonna Ciccone (2 names, no fail) and like the up and coming director Sam French. I'm real mainstr3am so I also like that Ke$ha Sebert (she turns my swag onnnnnnnn).

If you're not a New Yorker: what are you most looking forward to doing and seeing (apart from the festival) while you're here?
I am looking forward to soaking up the sun and seeing as many Fringe Shows as possible. Lots of my friends are in the Fringe this year, so I am really excited to see everything they are working on. Also. I just wanna dance. And eating my eyeballs out on the street in attempts to get into Uncle Vanya at SoHo Rep.

How did you meet your fellow artists/collaborators on this show?
I have been working with Aidaa and Rodney for years at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama. When they asked me to be in Sheherizad at school, I was very excited. I have watched Rodney work as both an actor and a choreographer and his work is always so lush and RICH. Aidaa's slam poetry pieces and song-writing have stuck me to my seat. I have yet to meet the folks with Bathwater Productions with who we are collaborating this piece, but I am excited to get to work with such a talented and diverse group on this very special play.

Which famous New Jerseyite would like your show the best: Snooki, Bruce Springsteen, Thomas Edison?
Snooki would like it because we use lots of scarves and SHE'S ALLL ABOUT THOSE SCARVES, IS EVERYONE WATCHING SNOOKIE AND JWOWWS REALITY SHOW? NO EXCUSES IT PLAYS AT THE GYM. Bruce Springsteen would like it because we tell alot of classic stories in innovative and exciting ways (much like his song lyrics). Thomas Edison would be down because we have used his invention of the light to the GREATEST abilities to make shadow play which corresponds with the story.

If you had ten million dollars that you had to spend on theatrical endeavors, how would you use the money?
I would split it between a). finding a way to reduce ticket prices so that everyone and not just some can see theatre more affordably and b) spend all my money promoting better theatre classes in schools and c). visiting as many schools as I could to hold master classes and work with the kids one on one (I mean I'm assuming I'm how did I get the money if not????)
